Disciple Bible Study

We are now signing folks up for our fall Disciple Bible Study classes. Disciple Bible Study is an in-depth way to study the Bible individually and in community. This fall we are offering Disciple One – Becoming Disciples through Bible Study and Disciple Three – Remember Who You Are.

Disciple One, “Becoming Disciples through Bible Study” has participants read 70% of the Bible in 34 weeks. During those 34 weeks participants have 20-30 minutes of individual time (homework) six days a week and a weekly class time that meets for 2.5 hours. During the class time, participants watch a video on the text that was studied (presented by Old and New Testament scholars), reflect on what they’ve read, and dig a little deeper into selected passages. Once participants have completed Disciple One, they are able to sign up for subsequent Disciple Studies.

Disciple Three: “Remember Who You Are” is a deeper study of the Old Testament Prophets and the Letters of Paul. While the format of Disciple Three is similar to Disciple One and Two, several themes will weave their way through the study: the call to remember, the call to repentance, the need for renewed vision (eyes to see, ears to hear), and the place of community. Resident in the title is the driving idea in this study–the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. The word You in the title is meant to be heard both in its singular form (the individual) and in its plural form (the community). Prerequisite: Disciple One.
